DOMESTIC FORMULAS:

ROOKIRODS

RookiRods is the Buxton Raceway entry formula or for those who cannot commit to the higher cost of other formulas. RookiRods are strictly non contact using any carburettered car up to 1600cc. Cars are easy to build and there is a huge driver list each year.

HOT FORDS

One step up from RookiRods is the Hot Fords, these are front wheel drive Fords with strict rules enforcing standard parts throughout, the racing is fast and close and car presentation on a par with the Hot Rods. Drivers race for different championships during the season.

BOMBERS [formerly Rookiebangers]

Basic 'nudge and spin' banger racing with light contact, meaning that generally cars last longer. Lots of drivers take part with adds to the spectacle and there are regular championship races, a very popular formula with 'different' events such as the 'Different Tin' and 'Chained Pairs', and they occasionally run over the Fig 8 circuit at some events.
ORC / NATIONAL BANGERS

Full contact banger racing - not for the faint hearted! usually in 2.0 litre cars or the bigger Unlimited Bangers (King Of The Peak) where anything goes, smashing fun for all the family
SUPERBANGERS

More of a racing class in the bangers, these cars are toughened up with steel plate all round, usually having 3 litre engines they are fast, noisy and very good entertainment - especially in the wet!! Superbangers have an upsurge in interest and have revived themselves for some even better racing in 2007
FORMULA MINISTOX

Armoured up Mini`s with 1300cc engine`s for adults only (over 16`s), limited contact, fast and exciting racing, cars tend to last much longer than other formula`s.

HOT RODS / SUPER SALOONS

Hot Rods are strictly Non contact, rear wheel drive specials (Super Saloons are FWD), they are the top class of closed circuit racing in the UK with amazing car preperation and investment from all drivers, the racing in this formula is very fast and close and with car numbers having a big increase in recent seasons this formula is one to watch.
VISITING FORMULAS:
For 2008: Oval Track Legends

Huge in the USA and rapidly growing in the UK. Stunning 5/8 scale race-cars, powered by 1200cc motorbike engines which are amazingly fast, with body shapes based on US cars from the 1920's and 30's. Racing is very fast, very competitive and non-contact - don't miss them on the 19th August
For 2008: GT Hot Rods

GT Hot Rods are primarily a Skegness based formula and are visiting us just the once this season, they run using up to 1600cc engines, with very limited tuning and are very like the Stock Rod formula. All the cars are front wheel drive, arched and skirted and all run on controlled remould tyres
Vauxhall Novas & Corsas mix it with Fiestas, Citroen AX's and VW Golf's and the like, to provide a good blend of available cars.
The low cost of this formula has encouraged drivers to join and the wide bends and fast smooth surface of the Skegness home track is ideal for this formula and a real challenge to drivers of all ability to join this growing Hot Rod formula.  Buxton welcomes them on the 1st July.
For 2007: Classic Hot Rods

The objective of this formula is not purely competition. The look of the cars shall be considered more important than their performance. There will be no points charts or championships. The formula harks back to the glory days of Hot Rod racing in the 70-s and so expect to see plenty of Ford Escorts and Anglias doing battle in their traditional sideways poses

BRISCA F1 STOCKCARS

The ultimate in contact racing, these cars have 'unlimited' V8 Chevy engines that the spectator can feel as they thunder past, drivers use the bumpers to nudge other cars off the racing line to gain places.

BRISCA F2 STOCKCARS

A far smaller version of the F1 Stockcars, these use the Ford Pinto engine of 2L capacity and hundreds of drivers take part all over the country, these F2s are very fast on the raceway with a good turnout each time.

V8 HOTSTOX

The V8 HotStox are full sized stockcars just like the F1s, but the V8s have only a Rover V8 for power and limited rules on both tyres and suspension, making the V8s a cheaper option to race, the lower spec tyres and suspension makes for entertaining action whenever they appear, the V8s produce good racing at Buxton and have many different championships through the season.

NATIONAL MINISTOX

Aimed at kids from 10 to 16 this formula is considered a training ground for the youngsters wishing to do bigger and better things with many driver moving to F1 and F2, full contact is allowed and the racing is fast and exciting, these kids have no fear when on the raceway and a rollover is never far away!!

REBELS

Rebels are a very unique formula, each and every car is built to the same spec and no other modifications are allowed - in fact each car has the same tyres and the same fuel, this means that driver skill has to shine through to win, Rebels use the Reliant 850cc engine and the driver can use the bumpers to gain places, Buxton is a popular track for the Rebels and produce large grids of cars at each appearance.

GP MIDGETS

Pure bred open wheeled racing cars that only run on ovals, strictly non contact racing with each car having engine of unlimited design to 1400cc max, with engine position either front, mid or rear mounted types, these are possibly the fastest formula there is, races are long - often to 30 laps and due to them being open wheeled, when it goes wrong it can lead to mayhem!!
